Friends of Saveland Park Neighborhood Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 2026

At Friends of Saveland Park, we value our neighbors’ privacy just as much as we value our community spirit. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle the limited personal information we collect through our website (savelandparkfriends.com). We’re a small, volunteer-run neighborhood group in Milwaukee, WI, focused on sharing local updates, events, and good vibes—not on data collection, marketing schemes, or selling info.

What Information We Collect
We collect two types of info:

  1. Voluntary Information You Provide (e.g., newsletter signup):

    • Your first and last name (optional, but helpful for personalizing neighborhood communications)
    • Your email address

This is only collected when you choose to sign up via our form, and you explicitly consent by submitting.

  2. Anonymous Site Usage Data (via Google Analytics):
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with the site—like which pages are popular or how folks find us. This collects non-personal data such as:

    • Browser type, device info, approximate location (from anonymized IP addresses), pages visited, time spent, and general traffic patterns.

Google Analytics uses cookies and similar tech to do this, but we do not tie it to any personally identifiable info (no names, emails, or exact addresses). IP addresses are anonymized where possible, and no personally identifiable information is sent to Google.

We do not collect phone numbers, full addresses, payment info, or any other sensitive details.

How We Collect It

  • Voluntary info comes directly from you via the newsletter signup form. By submitting, you consent to us collecting and using it as described.
  • Anonymous analytics data is collected automatically when you visit the site, via Google Analytics cookies.

How We Use Your Information

  • Newsletter data: Solely to send our occasional emails with neighborhood news, event invites (block parties, park cleanups, holiday gatherings), and important local updates.
  • Google Analytics data: To improve the site—figuring out what content neighbors like best so we can make the site more helpful and fun. We look at aggregated trends only—no individual tracking.
  • We do not use your info for profiling, targeted ads, or anything beyond basic community support.

We Do Not Sell or Share Your Data
Your voluntary info (name/email) stays strictly with us—we never sell, rent, trade, or share it with third parties for marketing or otherwise.

For Google Analytics, data is processed by Google as our analytics provider (they act as a data processor under strict terms). We do not share it further, and Google may use aggregated/anonymized data for their own services, but nothing personally identifiable from our site is linked to you.

Your Choices and Rights

  • Newsletter: Unsubscribe anytime via the clear “Unsubscribe” link in every email—no questions asked. You can also contact us to update or delete your info.
  • Google Analytics opt-out: You can prevent Google Analytics from tracking your activity by:
    • Installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on (available here: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
    • Adjusting your browser settings to block or manage cookies.
    • Using privacy-focused browsing modes or tools.
  • General: Contact us anytime to see, update, or delete any voluntary data we hold. Withdrawing consent (e.g., unsubscribing) stops processing for newsletters immediately.

We respect your inbox, your privacy, and your time—emails are rare and purposeful, and analytics help us serve the neighborhood better without getting nosy.

Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information (secure forms, limited access). No online system is 100% secure, but we keep things simple and minimal to reduce risks.

Children’s Privacy
Our site and newsletter are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from kids.

Changes to This Policy
If we update this (unlikely, but possible), we’ll post the new version here with a fresh effective date and may notify subscribers. Continued use means you accept the changes.
